AI assistants
Example prompts
Prompts to copy into Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant connected to PlayStep, and what each one does.
Ask in your own words; these are starting points. Swap in your own guide names, addresses and numbers. When a prompt names a guide, the assistant finds it by its name or slug.
Most of these work on any level. Draft changes run at once on Build drafts and become requests on Suggest changes; publishing, settings and deletions are always requests. See Permissions and approvals.
Getting started
What can you do in PlayStep?
Reads your workspace: your role, what this connection may do, your apps and usage. Nothing changes.
List my guides in production and tell me which ones have problems.
Lists every guide with its status, completion rate and issues such as missing anchors or broken clips.
Building guides
Build an onboarding guide for new users from https://example.com/pricing.
Use Generate with AI, keep it to 4 steps, and help them create their first project.
Crawls the page and the pages it links to, up to 10 in all, asks AI for tours (1 of your monthly AI generations) and turns the best one into a draft. Each step gets a note on what clip to record. Nothing is published.
In the guide "Get started", change step 2's text to "Pick a client from the list."
Edits the draft. End users keep seeing the published version until you publish again.
Add a step after step 3 that points at the export-btn anchor, completes when they
tap it, and plays https://cdn.example.com/clips/export.mp4.
Checks the clip link and adds it to your clips, then saves the new step in the draft.
Translate the guide "Get started" into German.
Adds German text next to the existing text in the draft, keeping product names and button labels as your app shows them.
Give me a preview link for "Get started".
A link that shows the draft in your real app for 1 hour, to the person who opens it. Works on Read only too.
Publishing
Get "Get started" ready for production and ask to publish it.
Fixes what blocks publishing, then asks to publish. It becomes a request you approve under Settings › Approvals, and the assistant gives you the link.
Roll "Get started" back to version 3 in production.
Becomes a request. Once approved, version 3 is live again within a minute.
Pause the guide "Holiday promo" everywhere.
Becomes a request. Once approved, the guide stops showing in every environment, without being unpublished.
Did my publish request go through?
Checks your requests and says whether each one is waiting, applied, rejected or expired.
Insights
Write a weekly report on our guides.
Usage against your plan, how the 3 most started guides did in the last 7 days, stale anchors and requests still waiting, in under 200 words.
Where do people drop off in "Get started"? Suggest a fix.
Reads the guide's funnel for the last 30 days, finds the step that loses people and explains why it might. Ask it to draft the fix when you agree.
Which anchors are stale, and which guides use them?
Lists anchors the SDK has not seen lately, so you can fix the steps before your users notice.
Admin
These need an owner or admin; an assistant connected by a member does not see the tools.
Add an app called "Acme Mobile" for Flutter.
Becomes a request. The person who approves it sees the new secret keys once; the assistant gets the publishable keys.
Invite sam@example.com as an admin.
Becomes a request. Once approved, Sam gets an invitation that works for 7 days.
Rotate the production keys for our web app.
Becomes a request. Once approved, the old publishable key stops loading guides within a minute and the old secret key stops working at once, so update your app and servers with the new ones. The approver sees the new secret key once.
Set our overage spend cap to $50 a month.
Becomes a request that only an owner can approve.
Built-in prompts
PlayStep also gives your assistant 6 ready-made tasks: build_onboarding_guide, improve_guide_from_analytics, weekly_report, fix_missing_anchors, prepare_release and translate_guide. Claude shows them as slash commands; in Claude Code type /mcp__playstep__ to see them. Other clients list them in their prompts menu. Each one asks for what it needs, such as the guide or the language, and then runs the steps for you.
The tool reference lists their arguments.
Skills
To have your assistant follow these workflows without a prompt, add PlayStep's skills: it then picks the right one from what you ask.
