Billing and usage
AI credits
What Generate with AI runs use on Pro, how a run is charged, and how to buy more credits.
Generate with AI is part of Pro, and its runs are paid with AI credits. Free has no Generate with AI.
Monthly credits
Pro includes 2,000 credits a month. They follow the calendar month in UTC: they reset on the 1st, and credits left at the end of a month do not roll over.
Bought credits
When the month's credits run out, runs use credits you bought. Bought credits:
- never expire,
- are used only after the month's credits,
- work only while the workspace is on Pro. On Free, or while Pro is paused after a failed payment, they are kept for when Pro is back.
What a run uses
Two kinds of run use credits: generating tours, and reading public pages of your app with a browser. Capturing screens with a capture link uses none.
A run is charged for what it really used: how many screens it read, how many tours it wrote and how long the browser ran. What a run costs follows what the AI services we use charge, so the credits a run uses can change if their prices change.
- Before a run starts, the dashboard shows the most it can use: "Uses up to N credits". Asking for fewer tours lowers it.
- While it runs, the run holds that many credits, so two runs at once never spend the same credits.
- When it finishes, it is charged what it really used, never more than it held. The rest goes back to your balance.
A run that fails uses no credits. A run still going after 15 minutes is treated as lost: it fails and its credits are given back.
| Run | Usually uses | The most it can use |
|---|---|---|
| Generate tours | 30 to 60 credits | Shown before it starts, often around 100 |
| Read up to 10 public pages | A few credits | 13 credits |
So 2,000 monthly credits cover about 40 generations.
Where to see them
- Settings › Usage & billing › AI credits: the credits left, the monthly credits used of 2,000 with the date they reset, your bought credits, and recent runs and purchases.
- Generate with AI: the credits left, and before each run, the most it can use.
Balances are always shown in credits, never in dollars.
Buy credits
| Pack | Price |
|---|---|
| 5,000 credits | $5 |
| 10,000 credits | $10 |
| 25,000 credits | $25 |
Prices are in US dollars, plus any sales tax or VAT. Paddle, our reseller, is the merchant of record.
Owners buy packs in Settings › Usage & billing › AI credits. Pick a pack and confirm: it is charged right away to the card on your Pro subscription, with no checkout form, and the credits arrive within seconds. If the card is declined, nothing is charged.
To buy, the workspace needs an active Pro subscription that is not set to cancel and has no failed payment. Each pack is its own Paddle transaction with its own receipt: see invoices and payments. Within 14 days of buying a pack, the part you have not used can be refunded: see the refund policy.
When a run cannot start
| You see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "Generate with AI is part of Pro. Upgrade to get 2,000 AI credits a month." | The workspace is on Free. | An owner upgrades in Settings › Usage & billing. |
| The run needs more credits than the workspace has. | Too few credits left for the most the run can use. | An owner buys a pack, or wait for the monthly credits on the 1st. Asking for fewer tours needs fewer. |
| Generate with AI is paused until the failed payment is fixed. | Pro is paused after a failed payment. | Update the payment method in the billing portal. |
AI assistants
Assistants connected over MCP use the same credits, and can never buy them.
generation_crawlandgeneration_suggestneed Pro and enough credits. On Free they fail withplan_limit, and with too few credits withno_credits.generation_list,generation_get,billing_getandworkspace_contextreport the credits: available, monthly credits left, bought credits and when the monthly ones reset.generation_getalso givescreditsPerRun, the most a generation of 1 to 6 tours uses.- When one of these runs becomes a request (on Suggest changes), the request says the most it uses and the credits left, so the approver sees it first.
Everything else assistants do works on Free as well.
